Welcome to the School of Art at Southeast University

The School of Art at Southeast University grants undergraduate degrees in Design, Fine Art, as well as in Animation. Graduate study in this school is geared toward earning a MA or PhD in the Discipline Theories of Art Study. Research Direction includes 1) History of Art, 2) Theory of Art, and 3) Artistic Creativity and Criticism and many areas of visual culture from the ancient world through the present. Work in the School of Art is conceived as an interdisciplinary undertaking, in which students are encouraged to become familiar with the variety of methodologies and practices that have historically been, and continue to be productive in our fields.

The first PhD degree program of art study was established at the School of Art at Southeast University in China. Our Discipline of Art Study was added to the list as one of the national key disciplines by the Ministry of Education in 2007. Discipline quality assessment released by China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (authoritative institution in China) declared it took first place in 2012. The School of Art assembles an array of eminent Chinese and foreign artists and art educators. It now has 15 professors and 21 associate professors, among whom 1 is member of the group of Art Study discipline of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in China, 8 are members of the group of Art Study discipline of National Teaching Guidance Committee of China, and 10 are doctoral advisors.
